You guys should make sure that you’re able to encourage google to merge all of the apps that they have to one whole thing so that no matter which google app any customers in general try to download, then they will be able to have all of google’s apps right there in case if they ever need any one of them.

Sure, it is not perfect. But it is centuries ahead of any other translation app on the market. The picture translation and the microphone translation are excellent features

I’m was a police officer at a major airport in the United States. Early one morning I was dispatched to a suspicious vehicle. Based on the location and information in the call notes, I suspected it to be a couple of kids “fooling around.” I located the vehicle and my suspicion was confirmed. I could see the occupants scurry to put on clothing as I approached the drivers window. I spoke with the driver and quickly discovered he was a male, Syrian National, who had recently moved the to states and found a job as a porter at the airport. As I struggled to communicate with him, as he did not speak English, and I do not speak Syrian, I noticed his girlfriend looked suspiciously young. After separating the two, I approached the female and attempted to speak with her. I was baffled when I discovered she was a Mexican National and did not speak a word of English. At this point I was throughly confused. What was this Syrian man doing, having a roll in the hay with this young Mexican woman, on the side of the road, at 4:30 in the morning? Luckily the answer came when my Spanish speaking backup officer arrived on scene. According to the girl, she had missed a connecting flight the night before. She met the Syrian man in the terminal while he was working, as she was waiting overnight for her rebooked flight to leave the next morning. The Syrian man had flirted with and picked her up using the google translate app and the two had been using it to communicate during their one night stand. I can’t imagine your development team ever dreamed that your translation app would ever help a Syrian man pull some Mexican tail. Bravo, Google. You have earned this five-star rating.

Sooo if you dont have storage just get this app then to take a picture go on to the translate by picture thing then take a screenshot of it the quality may be a bit questionable sometimes and idk if its just my crappy iPod that can still take screenshots when I ligit have no storage left but if your iPhone/iPad/iPod works this way to then your welcome

Can someone over at google please give us a technical reason why we can’t translate full websites via this disappointing app? Why?!?!? Are you simply torturing us for being Apple users? Add this stupidly basic feature already.

I tried it and very impressed. Still using older version if something is not broken dont fix it is what I learned from experiences.

***** for online version it is great * for offline version - it simply doesn’t do it on my iPhone. Even after following all the guidelines.

I use it all the time since most of the other apps don’t as much translations as this one.

If you type random stuff in you can do things and also I learned how to call someone a (butt) hat in Spanish. (Culo Sombrero)

I use google translate more than any app and I have loved it for years. The translation keeps getting better and more accurate. I give the latest revision a 2 because of a change that adds a step to translating during a conversation. The default used to be simply reversed when I selected the “translate to” language as “translate from” (ie when I was using “translate English to spanish” and selected “translate Spanish” and “to English” would automatically appear). Now I have to select both to and from each time- adding an additional step to each sentence. I don’t know why this change was made- if I needed an entirely different language I’d need to select it- it would never be “English to English” or “Spanish to Spanish”. Maybe this is an oversight but please fix it. Thanks very much and thanks for your app.

This app not only gives consistently correct translations, but it is easy to use when speaking between two people in different languages (like a true translator.) One issue I’ve had that I might like a remedy to is the need for WiFi when using the speak to translate function.

Set it for English to Chinese and it converts to English to English. My Chinese friends have the same problem in reverse. What happened to a once great app? It used to translate both parties and you could have a full conversation. Bring the old version back!

I really like this app, but there are many bugs and difficulty when using it. For example, when using the speech function it constantly stops working, saying there is a connection error where there isnt any. Or if my phone tilts a little bit on its side, the audio will stop and I have to start it all over again. This brings me to my next point: editing text. When you try to edit the text youre translating, its difficult to click it to be able to edit it or even find the spot you want to edit since the space is so small and cluttered. A function that will be really helpful is a pause/play button when youre having the text be read allowed and when the text is being read allowed, it doesnt stop if the device tilts to one side.

Easy for quick usage when messaging a pal in other countries. I do wish the app could be used in iMessage though! But other than that, this is the best Translator I know of.
