Please add Chinese *CANTONESE* AUDIO *OUTPUT*!!! Need this for traveling to Hong Kong on business. Need to keep Traditional Chinese and Simplified Chinese as two separate items. It’s a MISTAKE to combine it as just “Chinese”. Thank you.

App is great, but come on. 60 million people speak Cantonese. Please add Cantonese. I don’t know why you guys put all these useless African languages and languages nobody speaks. Some people actually need Cantonese because it’s actually useful for business and whatnot.

I can annoy people help much me. I have question what about asl deaf American Sign Language what if I speak deaf?

I cant help but wonder if Google is trolling with the Japanese-to-English translations (mostly from screenshots, or via the camera). As others have mentioned, the translations are completely mangled and senseless, and 99% inaccurate. Also, some very horrifying and profane results occasionally appear -- sentences and words that I KNOW for a fact dont have anything to do with the context of the Japanese characters/text that I am trying to translate from the screenshots. It feels extremely demonic, actually. . . I think Google is doing this on purpose. I deleted this garbage Google app because it was seriously frightening me, and is not even helpful at all. A few examples of the frightening translations Ive received: 1. When I turn on the camera function to pick a screenshot from my pictures, somehow when the app scans for Japanese text (and no text is there) it finds nonexistent "phantom words" in the background, in the objects and scenery in front of the camera lens. It randomly found and popped up with the words "CANCER" and "KILL" on my table, among other bizarre things. How can it "find" such weird and disturbing words that arent there!? 2. A sentence from a Japanese advertisement for a childrens toy (a hamster plush doll) translated to: "I will strangle my friends and colleagues." That is downright terrifying! I have no idea why it would mistranslate a cute toy advert to something so inaccurate, psychopathic and murderous! 3. A sentence from a screenshot of a Japanese childrens app game (when you feed an animal in the game) was supposed to say, "I am full. I cannot eat anymore food." But this app literally translated it to "I cannot get [bleeped] up anymore." Yes, it mistranslated it to the f-word profanity -- which, by the way, DOES NOT EVEN EXIST IN THE JAPANESE LANGUAGE!!! This was the final straw. Deleted! I know this might sound crazy, but I am being completely honest! I am petrified by what this app mistranslated! What the hell, Google!? Why is this sick, warped app mistranslating Japanese text into vulgar, horrifying things!? Never using this again! ?

In android phone, we can use our google account while using this app. And because of that feature it gets easy to get our saved Phrasebook even in offline mode. We can save words in Phrasebook from any device login with google account and get them in any android phone that have google translate app. This simple feature makes life easier! I would like to request the developer to add the google account merging feature in this iOS app so that we can see our saved Phrasebook. Thanks in advance :)

I have found Googles translation to be somewhat helpful, but this app is LOADED with bugs, especially with the voice function. The voice feature will stop working and require me to either go back to the typing screen, or exit the app, completely. Often, it will not transcribe my words properly, or it will cut me off mid-sentence. This function really could use a push-to-talk button that you hold until finished speaking. The "listen to both parties" function seems useless. Also, the voice translation function will often get the languages mixed around, even if the correct language button is pressed. I have frequently seen it flip the language selection so that it translates English to English - quite ridiculous! Lastly, dont try to say too much in a single go, or the spoken translation will never play. Request : Id like to see external app usefulness - let it translate stuff that I highlight in other apps such as email or text messages, without the need to copy, change apps, and paste for my translation.

A free translator app that does an excellent job translating when connected to the internet and a good job when not connected. You can speak, type, or use the camera for input. Translations can be easily marked for review at a later time. The user interface could use a few minor tweaks for improvement but thats a minor quibble about an excellent app. Highly recommended.

I have installed this app on every device in my home. I am able to talk to anyone around the world in the language they are comfortable with. The translation does not always come across perfectly on either end. Regardless, I am enjoying learning about new cultures and lifestyles. The world is both a bigger and smaller than I ever imagined. Bigger because I am getting firsthand knowledge of people I have only read about. Smaller in the fact that they are my neighbor who happens to live on the other side of the world. I use this app so often, it needs to be on every device.

When I try to translate the text by the camera, the application stops. I met this problem in several updates and I hope it will solving in the next updates.

Doesn’t translate Chinese right it makes no sense went I am using it.

Works great if you are not speaking too long.... if you are expect to be interrupted every couple of seconds.

The app is amazing but they should add more languages like Cantonese I know six Japanese Spanish English Vietnamese mandarin Cantonese but I can’t seem to find Cantonese anywhere if you could add a sprinkle of more languages it would be five stars but some translations are wrong maybe you guys could add a squeeze of right translations you could get five stars and your missing a juicy taste to make it easy to use it would be a full translation soup (sorry I had to think about food lol)

Many words in Persian (Farsi) language don’t have correct meaning.
